Description

This is one of a series of drawings made by Stanley Donwood as an exploration of the nature of the hagstone.

A hagstone is a pebble, usually of flint, with a hole all the way through it. They were once used as magical talismen, to bring luck or to ward off the evil eye, and were much praised by fishermen who would hang them from their boats.
